Mule Trading

Curtis and Leroy saw an ad in the local paper and bought a mule for $100.  The farmer who sold them the mule agreed to deliver the mule the next day.

The next morning, the farmer drove up and said, "Sorry guys! I have some bad news.  The mule died last night.  "That's OK," Curtis said, "Just give us our money back."

"Can't do that," The farmer replied, "I done went and spent it!"

"OK, Leroy said, "Just bring us the dead mule." The farmer replied, "What in the heck are you gonna do with a dead mule?"

"We're gonna raffle it off," said Curtis.  The farmer replied, "You can't raffle off a dead mule!"  "Oh yeas we can," answered Leroy, "We don't have to tell anybody he's dead! We were gonna raffle him off anyway! "

Curtis added, "We've already sold 500 tickets at $2 each and made  $998!"

A next day the farmer delivered the dead mule.  A week later, the farmer ran into Curtis and Leroy in town.  The farmer asked, "Well how'd the raffle go!  I bet you got some complaints!"

Curtis answered, "Well the feller who won was mighty upset, so we gave him his $2 back...."
